Here lives the Mountain Gorilla, the rarest of the great apes. Booking must be done well in advance and costs US$275 per person for the tracking permit.

A great deal of fitness is required to track up mountain slopes for up to 8 hours in the worst case scenario! But well worth the effort and the expense.

Numerous camps are available for lodging from basic to luxurious tented camps such as Gorilla Forest Camp and Mantana Tented Camp.
