A wonderful Park at the base of the Ruwenzori
Mountain range and in the Rift Valley. It has Lion, Elephant,
Uganda Kob and the rare Giant Forest Hog.
A launch trip along the Kazinga channel between
the Lakes George and Edward, encounter wetlands teeming with Hippo
and migrant birdlife; the bird checklist for this Park stands
presently at 606 bird species.
Ishasha, located at the southern end of the Park
is the best location in Uganda for camping, but requires a serious
4WD to get there. Camping next to the Ishasha River with the vociferous
Hippos and giggling Hyena are one of those memories that will
last a lifetime.
Walking along the riverine forest with a ranger
is also a challenge. The road system within this sector of the
Park is poor and a ranger can be useful.
The beauty, tranquillity and lack of anyone else
really make this the ultimate safari destination for the adventurous
soul!
